Virtual 3D Breast Augmentation

Dr. Joseph A. Broujerdi is pleased to announce the use of the 3dMDtorso system at his office. Call today for your virtual surgery Demo. consultation.

The 3dMD software systems have been developed and in use within several academic health care centers world wide. This imaging system and software provides exceptional precision in the anatomical analysis and planning of a patients treatment and surgery with the ability to simulate surgery on a 3D digital model. This system has been in use for cases such as:
  • Aesthetic facial surgery
  • Corrective jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery)
  • Obstructive sleep apnea surgery
  • Craniofacial surgery

In 2006, 3dMD introduced the 3dMDtorso system that now provides incredible visual aid in the 3D image analysis of patient chest, as well as proper technique planning or implant selection for various breast related surgeries such as:

  • Augmentation
  • Lift
  • Reduction
  • Reconstruction

The proper procedures, technique and implants are chosen based on a complete visual of the patient’s upper torso with amazing quality and accuracy. A 3D virtual breast augmentation surgery can be preformed with appropriate implant type, shape and size selection for the patient.

Highly Enhanced Quality Anatomical Images

When patients are evaluated for breast augmentation and other breast procedures, the 3dMDtorso system provides a superior coverage of the patient’s chest, providing a positioning and configuration system that is proven to be much simpler and faster than previous techniques. Breast augmentation and other breast surgery patients are able to take advantage of a system that is optimized to provide the most precise coverage of the upper torso to accurately define the anatomical area with three views for optimal viewing. There is also a four viewpoint system that provides optimal coverage for all sizes and types breasts. The imaging process involves:

  • 180 degree view beginning under breast and surrounding upper torso
  • 1.5 millisecond capture speed at the highest resolution
  • Industrial-grade synchronized flash system during one single capture
  • Offers a 3 modular units of 12 different machine vision cameras

The precision the 3dMD imaging system and 3dMDtorso software offers a superior result compared to other imaging techniques, allowing the patient to experience the best possible quality during care.

Simple and Quick Imaging Process

The 3dMDtorso system provides a simple one click imaging of the upper torso in patients, allowing the patient to still have a sense of modesty during the procedure, not having to take various shots that are time-consuming as with previous imaging methods. The patient’s image can be taken at once and accessed immediately offering a quick transition to allow both the surgeon and patients view the image, select implants and perform a virtual surgery. The patient is able to see step by step progress as well as a top quality image that provides the best quantifiable measurement of outcome.

3dMDtorso software provides a simulation platform for breast surgery, this enables surgeons and patients to visually communicate and collaborate on the outcomes of breast procedures by using the patients own image presented in precise 3D format. The software also allows for the selection of implants from the major manufacturer catalogs, position the implant above or under the muscle, adjust for skin and tissue type.

The 3dMDtorso system is a high quality imaging software and hardware component that offers surgeons and patients the best possible imaging experience for breast augmentation and other breast related surgery preparation, planning, simulation surgery and implant type, shape and size selection. This education tool will assist in communication between the physician and the patient. The 3dMD software offers a superior look at the entire upper torso from front to back with premium accuracy and precision on the surface of the area. Any size breast is accommodated, even those planning breast reduction procedures. During the recovery period, the imaging system offers a constant monitoring of the area to quantify measurable results in order to determine the need for further intervention surgically, as well as any treatment modification during the process.

3D Virtual Facial Surgery

Our Adoption of the Powerful 3dMD Platform to Plan Facial Surgery Treatment
When it comes to accurately assessing the craniofacial region and planning surgery, the 3dMD platform is the one used by leading teaching institutions and hospitals around the world. 3dMDvultus is state-of-the-art multi-modal imaging software that generates an accurate virtual patient on the computer screen through the anatomical display of the combined 3D facial soft tissue, skeletal structure, and airway. The software takes a sophisticated, yet easy to understand, approach to fusing the patient’s 3D CT and/or CBCT scan images with the patient’s corresponding 3dMD 3D photograph.

With the ability to express the patient’s craniofacial complex in a single anatomical 3D model in 3dMDvultus, the physician can easily visualize the geometry of the entire airway to identify barriers when treating obstructive sleep apnea.

The 3dMD platform also enables the physician to plan and evaluate treatment options and perform virtual surgery in preparation for the actual surgery. By visualizing potential outcomes, the 3dMD platform assists the surgical team by enhancing patient condition and treatment-specific communications among team members. The patient and his/her family benefit from 3D assisting the physician in recommending and administering the best possible treatment. Additionally, the treating physician can show the patient aspects of his/her treatment plan in an effort to further educate and communicate the benefits of a certain approach.

Our Results-Oriented Team Approach to Surgery and Treatment Planning
The 3dMDtrio System, a non-invasive accurate 3D photography device, is an optimal tool for enabling the physician to measure and evaluate elements of the facial region for various types of facial surgery including Corrective Jaw, Maxillofacial, Craniofacial, and Sleep Apnea.

In the 3dMDvultus software, patient evaluations for surgical-orthodontic teams are taken to a new level assisting the team in accurately measuring and analyzing a patient’s facial soft tissue and skeletal proportions in a virtual 3D patient manner using high-precision 3D data from 3dMD and CT/CBCT systems. This modern approach replaces the traditional method of analyzing a patchwork-quilt of disconnected 2D photography and X-rays. Based on the team’s evaluation, the surgeon plans the surgical cuts and proposed movements in the software. Next in the 3dMDvultus software the surgeon performs a virtual surgery by moving the skeleton to a position based on his/her anatomical knowledge base, where the patient’s facial soft tissue and airway are evaluated. In corrective jaw surgery, the software simulates a possible outcome based on the surgeon’s treatment plan in which patients may view how their face might look before the actual surgery is performed.

For obstructive sleep apnea patients, 3dMDvultus provides the treating physician with a platform for not only enhanced visualization of the airway, but also a tool for assessing the condition objectively through the diameter measurement of restricted passages with the calculation of airway volume. With this information, the treating physician can make better judgments about the area of blockage and choose the appropriate surgical plan before the actual surgery. Moreover after the procedure, the surgeon can objectively assess the outcome in the 3dMDvultus software and follow the patient post-operatively.

Our Commitment to Measuring Results and Monitoring Treatment
Our patient treatment approach for planning, monitoring, and assessing results has been made even more efficient with the adoption of the high-precision, non-invasive 3dMDtrio System for documenting the patient’s face in 3D. As the 3dMDtrio is a non-invasive, photography-based device, the patient is photographed in 3D prior to treatment to facilitate planning, after treatment to assess the immediate outcome, and for a period after the intervention to monitor the progression to recovery. All of the facial images can be objectively measured, compared, and evaluated. This form of sophisticated evaluation will allow the surgical team to fully monitor individual treatments and document cases for comparing future treatments in a scientific manor.

In our opinion, the 3dMD inter-disciplinary patient treatment platform takes us to the next generation of technology for high-standard patient care. Whether seeking facial surgery, reconstructive jaw surgery, or sleep apnea treatment, patients are able to benefit from enhanced planning, monitoring, and outcome assessment through the latest in non-invasive technologies and highly-efficient practices. In conjunction with low-radiation dose, high-detail CBCT imaging, clinicians and patients alike are able to take advantage of these timely advancements in the healthcare sector on a ground-floor level.
